Coull Woodland, Aboyne.
While outside of Broadshade’s core business, Coull Woodland provides an echo of Broadshade’s agricultural past. At purchase in 2006, Coull had been poorly managed; however, a thorough forest management plan was put in place, with structured felling and replanting, as well as new fencing and drainage to aid newly planted trees. As a result of this active management, Coull is now producing regular felling income – around 5,000 tonnes of timber was sold in 2019 – and has seen a significant rise in its capital value.
